ARA 290, also known as cibinetide, is a synthetic peptide derived from the hormone erythropoietin (EPO). Unlike EPO, which stimulates red blood cell production, ARA 290 is designed to provide anti-inflammatory and tissue-protective effects without the hematopoietic (blood cell-forming) properties of EPO.
Mechanism of action: ARA 290 specifically binds to the innate repair receptor (IRR), a receptor that is activated upon tissue damage and inflammation. By activating this receptor, ARA 290 can reduce inflammatory responses and promote tissue repair. In addition, ARA 290 has the ability to block the TRPV1 receptor, a receptor involved in pain perception and inflammation, contributing to pain relief.
